Assam CM Announces Bajali as district, names Pathsala as Neem Nagari
CM Sonowal laid the foundation stone of Bajali Milk Processing Unit in Pathsala. The unit will be built at the cost of Rs 4.68 crore under CMSGUY.

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal officially granted district status to Bajali in a ceremony held near Pathsala in Barpeta on Wednesday.
The Government of Assam formally declared Bajali, a subdivision of Barpeta district, as the 34th district of Assam on January 12, 2021.
The state government approved the proposal to make Bajali a district on August 10, 2020.
The Personnel Department has already appointed Bhabani Prasad Sarma as the DC (Deputy Commissioner) of Bajali district. Madan Rauta Nagar in Pathsala will be the headquarters of Bajali district, which will comprise the entire existing Bajali Civil Subdivision that is presently under Barpeta district.

Guwahati, Feb 7 : As Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Dhekiajuli town, about 150 kms northwest of Guwahati, to unveil a slew of development projects worth over Rs 10,000 crore in Assam on Sunday, he also paid tributes to as many as 15 martyrs of India’s freedom movement, whose stories of supreme sacrifice have remained unrecognised and unheard of in the rest of the country for nearly eight decades.
These stories include that of Tileswari Barua, a 12-year-old girl from a remote village, who, on being moved by the patriotic songs that had moved thousands of rural folk in Assam, went ahead and took a bullet from the colonial police and died for the country.

Chief Minister Sonowal took to Twitter to talk about the importance of media in good governance. He said that media s role as a watchdog is essential to good governance. He wrote, Media s role as a watchdog is key to good governance. Our media should continue playing a critical role to keep the Govt machinery always alert and perform better.
