No payment, no electricity: Assam power department lodges over 600 FIRs against power theft
In the last month, the APDCL conducted 1,904 raids against unauthorised electricity connections, and snapped the power lines of 1.11 crore consumers whose bills are outstanding.

In a massive state-wide crackdown on power theft, the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has lodged over 600 FIRs in the matter of unauthorised electricity connections in the month of June.
APDCL Managing Director Rakesh Kumar said, “We have imposed Rs 14.94 crore in fines and collected Rs 2.1 crore. The maximum number of FIRs have been lodged in Mangaldoi, Lakhimpur and Nagaon district.”
