V accination centres functioning from around 200 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the city are supposed to ensure and improve the health of citizens. However, thanks to the lack of organisation, citizens end up being at risk of contracting the virus from these centres itself. black spots
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Solid Waste Management (SWM) wing has a reason to smile. The
SWM wing, which has been criticised for not doing much about removing black spots, has ended up beautifying 100 black spots in the city.
The SWM department, in association with The Ugly Indian, began identifying and beautifying black spots on February 15 and successfully completed beautifying 100
such areas in 45 days by the end of March 31.
“We are pleased to report that the target has been met. One-hundred large, chronic, perennial eyesores at prominent junctions and on main/arterial roads have been eliminated and spaces transformed, as part of the BBMP #Clean100Campaign,’’ said a volunteer of The Ugly Indian.

Malleswaram had started painting a
wall near a
BBMP school on Temple Street, after a black spot was cleared. We were able to share a few
preliminary photos of the wall being painted because work was still in progress. Here is the completed wall, a
thing of beauty and hopefully, a joy forever, for the residents of this neighbourhood.

BBMP Supervisor Anil (
Ward 65) initiated a spot fix on Thursday and Friday to transform this black spot, near the BBMP school, on Temple Street.
One of the
volunteers from
Malleswaram had sent an email to The Ugly Indian a month ago and they took up the project with a clean up and some artistic intervention.
Like the Ugly Indians who keep their identities top secret, many volunteers from Malleswaram who worked with their ward supervisors on this project didn’t want to reveal their identities.
