Nasir Shah visits Aziz Bhatti Park

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Tuesday visited Aziz Bhatti Park.
While briefing the minister, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Administrator Laeeq Ahmad said internal encroachments in the park had been completely demolished while the Customs Club and marriage halls constructed on the park’s land had also been demolished.
He said dumping of garbage in park’s lake, which covers the area of five acres had been stopped. He said a social organisation had committed about 100,000 saplings for developing an urban forest on the retrieved park’s land, adding these 50,000 saplings had been handed over to KMC.
KMC’s parks department pruning trees before monsoon rainfalls

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) parks and horticulture department has started trimming and pruning work of old trees and sapling plantation on roads and arteries before the monsoon season hits the city.
The branches of the trees should be trimmed so that they do not obstruct the traffic, KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed Khan directed the parks department. According to a statement issued by the KMC, the staff of the parks and horticulture department was working at Sharae Faisal, Kidney Hill Park, Aziz Bhatti Park, Shaheed Millat Road, University Road and other places. Civil society and various welfare organisations, including Faizan Global Relief Foundation, NED University of Engineering and Technology and Rotary International, were also assisting the KMC in this regard.

Commercial activities have ceased in the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) ground and all marriage halls and marquees have been removed from the place, officials claimed on Friday.
They was a briefing and a meeting held to review progress on the implementation of Supreme Court orders regarding removal of encroachment from parks, playgrounds and amenity plots.
Karachi Commissioner Navid Ahmed Shaikh asked the deputy commissioners and the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials to stop illegal constructions in the city and to take action against those violating building by-laws.

KARACHI: A police constable was wounded in Saeedabad when he along with his colleague was chasing two bandits, who were running away after looting a pedestrian on Thursday, officials said.
They said the two constables associated with the Sindh Reserve Police were having lunch in Saeedabad at a roadside eatery when they spotted two men on a motorbike intercepting a pedestrian and then speeding away.
“The policemen sensed something wrong and when they came to know through the pedestrian that the men on the motorbike were armed and had snatched Rs50,000 he had just withdrawn from the bank from him, they went after the robbers,” said Inspector Salim Rind, the SHO of the Madina Colony police station.
