A Nigerian and five Thais have been detained in Bangkok following a police raid over a romance scam which made at least 200 million baht in a year.
A crime police search of seven locations in Bangkok, Nakhon Sawan, Phuket and Pathum Thani on Monday led to the arrest of the six suspects, Pol Maj Gen Suwat Saengnoom, chief of the Crime Suppression Division, said on Tuesday.

Another suspect wanted in connection with a lottery investment fraud that caused an estimated 600 million baht in losses has been arrested in Samut Prakan.
Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police officers nabbed Wutthipat Lerdlob, 36, in front of his house in tambon Bang Yo of Phra Pradaeng district on Friday night.
He was wanted on a warrant issued by the Trat Provincial Court on May 18 for collusion to defraud, CSD commander Pol Maj Gen Suwat Saengnoom said yesterday.
The investigation found Mr Wutthipat persuaded people to invest in the lottery scheme that was operated by Jitra Yothapirom, the CSD commander said.

A Chiang Rai teenager is facing fraud charges after a young victim took his own life after losing all his money to him in a romance con.
Thanuphat James Maneesri, 18, of Huay Yod, Trang, drowned himself in a reservoir in the district on April 19. The youngster left a picture of a bank transfer slip on his phone, accompanied by the words fed up .
The find led police on a trial which took them to the run-down family home of Ton, 17, of Wiang Chiang Rung district, Chiang Rai, who had befriended James in February as they played the computer game ROM.

BURI RAM: Sixteen alleged administrators of a major online gambling network with 50 million baht in monthly circulation have been arrested during police raids in this northeastern province.
Crime Suppression Division officers searched houses at five locations in Nang Rong area following an investigation into their use as offices for www.sajoker123.com and nine other network gambling sites, Pol Maj Gen Suwat Saengnoom, the CSD commander, said on Tuesday.
