The Waikato Wellbeing Project (WWP) is calling for
innovators, data scientists and creative design thinkers to
help it in its mission to enable equitable outcomes for
rangatahi/youth.
Expressions of interest are being
sought from rangatahi or anyone with experience working
directly with young people to form a core team responsible
for progressing the WWP youth opportunity.
Harvey
Brookes, WWP Executive Director, said the youth opportunity
is about uncovering root causes and insights that
fundamentally transform systems that deliver greater
outcomes for rangatahi, whānau and our wider
community.

Te Ramaroa is a celebration of community, creativity and
the wonder of light.
In its fifth year, Te Ramaroa
expanded its footprint across the city, creating new
opportunities for installation sites, allowing more room for
people to move, and most importantly, showing Nelson in a
new light.
The new-look Te Ramaroa 2021 was embraced
by the crowds, with its stunning array of more than 30 light
installations through Church Hill, Nelson’s city streets,
NMIT, Kirby Lane and Queens Gardens. Well over 50,000 people
came out on a series of clear and crisp mid-winter nights to
enjoy the illuminations, take in the entertainment on the

A lack of men in early childhood education has
inspired Wintec Master of Applied Innovation student,
Grayson Newton-Smith to create a book about restoring mana
in men.
Grayson Newton-Smith
is addressing the shortage of men in early childhood
education by designing a children’s book that aims to
enhance the nurturing nature in men.
As an
early childhood educator, Newton-Smith has firsthand
experience of the stigmas attached to the profession for men
in the industry and wants more people to understand the
vital importance for men to occupy this space.

Netball New Zealand has confirmed the world champion
Silver Ferns will go up against the Australian Diamonds on
both sides of the Tasman in October.
The Silver Ferns
will defend their Constellation Cup title when they meet the
Diamonds in four Tests, played as part of the Cadbury
Netball Series.
The rivalry resumes with Silver
Ferns’ first trip to Australia since late 2019, playing in
Brisbane on 13 October and in Cairns four days
later.
The Constellation Cup then moves to New Zealand
where the two teams go head-to-head at Spark Arena in
Auckland on 21 October and TSB Arena in Wellington on 24

Overtime increased in 29% of organisations in New Zealand
over the past 12 months, with 51% of staff unpaid for their
extra hours, according to recruiting experts
Hays.
Based on findings in the recruiter’s FY21/22 Hays
Salary Guide, just 13% managed to decrease overtime over
the past 12 months.
Of those organisations that
increased overtime, 31% kept the average weekly additional
hours to less than 5%. A further 40% increased overtime by
between 5 and 10%, while 26% increased it by 10 to 20%. The
final 3% saw overtime rise by more than 21% of the standard
weekly hours worked.
