People Capability Manager Emma Boase was among a stellar
line-up of primary industry excellence at last night’s
2021 Primary Industries New Zealand Awards in
Christchurch.
Recognised as one of seven winners from
a pool of 65 nominations, Emma took out the title of the
Lincoln University Emerging Leaders Award for her efforts in
attracting new talent into the horticulture
sector.
The award is testament to Emma’s outstanding
leadership and ongoing commitment to championing
horticultural careers.

Public relations firm, Porter Novelli, has today
appointed Brad Pogson as Managing Director.
Brad, who is already on
the leadership team, will now drive the future direction of
the agency, together with recently appointed Executive
Director Amber McEwen, who will continue in this important
role.
Having first worked for the agency in 2015, Brad
returned in September 2020 following four years in London,
working for top B2B and technology PR agencies, and a stint
running his own successful PR practice.

The
Government has released the first draft of the Natural and
Built Environments Act (NBA), one of the proposed laws meant
to replace the cumbersome Resource Management Act (RMA)
which has stunted New Zealand’s ability to build more
houses.
Reforming the Resource Management Act has been
seen as a once in a generation opportunity to improve New
Zealand’s ability to deliver more housing. While some are
praising the Government for taking action, others say the
Government has just squandered that opportunity.

Councillors voted unanimously today to move forward and
open public submissions on 15 July for the draft East Coast
Beach Vehicle Bylaw. The draft proposes to prohibit motor
vehicles on the beach between the Awatere and Waima (Ure)
River mouths, with a few exemptions. This option will
improve public safety, and enable habitat restoration and
protection of the area’s many threatened and at-risk
species.
A revised Statement of Proposal went to the
full Council at this morning’s extraordinary meeting and
included a draft bylaw, proposal summary and revised
technical report.
An online submission form will be
