The University of Illinois Springfield will honor Mark and Julie Staley

The Zoom webinar will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday although advanced registration is required. The Staleys have called Springfield home for nearly two decades. Julie Staley is president of the Staley Museum in Decatur, as well as CEO and owner of Spencer Films and president at Spencer Theatre Company. Staley is a reporter/producer/host for In Focus, which airs on WSEC-TV and WSIU-TV. She is also a former news anchor. Staley is the daughter of Bob Heil, owner of Heil Sound, who pioneered sound systems for rock concerts, working with The Grateful Dead and The Who, among others.

Westfall chairs BCC Foundation’s AEF Campaign Jan Westfall The Academic Enrichment Fund (AEF) Campaign is one of the Barton Community College Foundation’s most significant annual fundraising efforts. The campaign runs throughout March and is unique because it allows donors to specialize their gift by choosing which department or fund they would like to benefit from their generosity. All the donations are used for academic scholarships and program enhancements. There is no minimum donation amount. Great Bend native and Barton alum Jan Westfall is the 2021 AEF Campaign chair. EAMC donates land to Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind

In an effort to improve health care for residents of east central Alabama. East Alabama Medical Center has donated a parcel of land in Opelika to the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB).  The land is located on the southeast corner of Dunlop Drive and Waverly Parkway. Construction bids are currently taking place for the 7,900-square-foot facility, and AIDB expects to hold a groundbreaking ceremony in mid-April.    EAMC President and CEO Laura Grill, who serves as secretary on the AIDB Foundation Board of Directors, says helping AIDB open a new location in Opelika will be extremely beneficial to deaf and blind residents throughout the area.
