Lamar County Homelessness Coalition to meet Thursday

The Lamar County Homelessness Coalition will host its first general meeting of 2021 on Thursday via Zoom. The public is invited to attend. Agenda items will include updates from Horizon House, Covid-19 vaccines for the homeless and committee reports. The action project this month is collecting paper towels, toilet paper, and garbage bags for Horizon House, which can be dropped off at the United Way of Lamar County office at 2340 Lamar Ave. or at Horizon House at 450 4th St. SW. Downtown Indy to hold donation drive for homeless community

Feb 19, 2021 / 08:30 AM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Downtown Indy, Inc. is encouraging people to give gently used clothing, personal hygiene products and non-perishable food items during Show Some Love Back Downtown Friday. Donations will benefit Horizon House and Veterans Support Council. They can be dropped off at the southwest quadrant of Monument Circle on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March Madness face masks will be given to those who make a donation. The initiative is also an effort to bring more people to downtown and support local businesses. Downtown Indy Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Events Bob Shultz told News 8 they have been working to revive the economy since the end of last summer.

Feb 17, 2021 / 08:49 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Live-entertainment venues are waiting for the chance to get business back up to full speed and thanks to the Indiana Independent Venue Alliance several of them have banded together to have a chance of surviving the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, they’re helping people with an even greater need: homeless neighbors at the Horizon House. The alliance called the event Sock On. During a three-week donation drive, the venues collected more than 500 pairs of socks for people the nonprofit serves. “We love all of our donations but we know that this came from the heart,” said Teresa Wessel, Horizon House executive director.
