Marion County music venues hope restrictions are lifted soon

With the arrival of warmer weather, venues with the necessary space are moving the entertainment outdoors. Author: Mary Milz Updated: 9:22 PM EDT April 9, 2021 INDIANAPOLIS Live music venues like downtown s Slippery Noodle are back in play but still singing the blues, especially in Marion County where mask mandates and capacity limits remain in place.  We re looking for a big summer, said Josh Caplinger, a Slippery Noodle partner. But you have to bring people in, and that s the main part. With warmer weather here, the Slippery Noodle and others with the necessary space are moving the music outdoors when possible. The only way we can do anything of any size is outside, said Mike Quarto, who owns the Mousetrap Bar and Grill. We can actually close down the parking lot and put up a stage.

Gr8 Comeback : Indiana Independent Venue Alliance

Feb 17, 2021 / 08:49 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Live-entertainment venues are waiting for the chance to get business back up to full speed and thanks to the Indiana Independent Venue Alliance several of them have banded together to have a chance of surviving the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, they’re helping people with an even greater need: homeless neighbors at the Horizon House. The alliance called the event Sock On. During a three-week donation drive, the venues collected more than 500 pairs of socks for people the nonprofit serves. “We love all of our donations but we know that this came from the heart,” said Teresa Wessel, Horizon House executive director.

As Mike Quarto, the owner of the Mousetrap Bar and Grill lamented, Oh, it s been horrible, miserable. We lost over 50 percent of our business. While the restaurant portion is open, the only live music at the Mousetrap is Sunday nights at 8:00, outside. And even with the vaccines and some stimulus help on the way, Quarto said, We still have a long ways to go. I m hoping the warm weather will help us survive this summer.
