View Comments The City County Health Department followed guidance from the Centers for Disease Control in recommending indoor mask usage to slow transmission of COVID-19. The CCHD also recommended wearing a mask outdoors to reduce the harmful effects of inhaling smoke particulates from recent fires, per a press release Wednesday.  The CCHD reported in the past week there have been 114 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Cascade County. This includes 13 new variant cases for a total of 95 variant cases, with the delta variant accounting for the majority of these new cases. Cascade County is currently classified as having the highest level of community transmission, per the CDC Data Tracker map. The CDC considered a community to have a high level of community transmission when there are more than 100 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people in the last seven days. Currently, almost 50% of U.S. counties meet this criteria.
