2 charged with robbery, felony murder in killing of man shot at his N.J. home

Two men were charged with felony murder and robbery in the January 2020 killing of a 24-year-old man who was shot at his Atlantic County home, authorities said Wednesday.
Leonard B. Ludwigsen Jr., 26, and Neco J. Pitts, 28, also face weapons and conspiracy charges stemming from the shooting of Arturo “Arty” Barrera III in Egg Harbor Township, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.
“I want to commend the detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, along with our local, state, and federal partners, for their diligent and tireless effort to investigate and identify those responsible for the murder of Art Barrera, Jr. more than fifteen months ago,” Tyner said in a statement.

The Atlantic City Police Department says members of the DEA Liberty Mid-Atlantic High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the ACPD s Special Investigations Section and SWAT Team executed simultaneous residential search warrants at six apartments within the Madison Hotel on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard and one apartment in Lighthouse Plaza Thursday.
Detectives recovered three guns, over 1,000 bags of heroin, 3 pounds of ecstasy, more than seven ounces of methamphetamine, 1.5 ounces of cocaine, and nearly $14,000 in cash, according to a press release.
