GALLOWAY The legal guardian of a 9-year-old girl was charged with assaulting the girl with a metal spatula and starving her to the point where she was extremely emaciated, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner.
Stephanie Gregory, 56, of Galloway was charged on Wednesday with not feeding the girl properly and using the spatula to open up wounds and welts on her body, according to Tyner. The girl could barely walk when Child Protection and Permanency removed the girl from the home, the prosecutor said.
The Atlantic County SWAT team was involved with Gregory s arrest but Tyner did not disclose the circumstances.

A 56-year-old woman from Atlantic County has been arrested on charges that she physically abused one child and endangered two others, authorities said.
Stephanie Gregory of Galloway Township was the legal guardian of the three siblings, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.
On Wednesday, Gregory was charged with two counts of second-degree aggravated Assault and six counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Tyner said. She also was charged with possession of heroin.
The charges stem from Gregory’s failure to properly feed a 9-year-old girl who she allegedly beat repeatedly with a metal spatula leading to open wounds and welts on the child’s body, the prosecutor said.

Kaitlyn Hayes, 26, plead guilty on Friday to first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter in the 2018 crash that killed 36-year-old Suzana Kocick, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
An investigation showed that around midnight on Dec. 19 Hayes was driving a Ford Expedition 106 MPH on Pitney Road when she crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with Kocick s vehicle. Kocick was pronounced dead at the scene.

An Atlantic County woman was charged with abusing a 9-year-old girl, who was repeatedly beaten and hospitalized for a week, authorities said Thursday.
Stephanie Gregory, 56, faces six counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of aggravated assault, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.
“The charges stem from Gregory’s failure to properly feed the 9-year-old female victim and beat the child repeatedly with a metal spatula leading to open wounds and welts on the child’s body,” the prosecutor said in a statement.
