A 16-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot in the leg while riding an ATV in West Philadelphia. Witnesses said the gunman was inside a car that was chasing the teen for blocks. MAYS LANDING - A 70 year-old Atlantic County man was sentenced Thursday for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old victim.
Jose A. Rodriguez faces up to 11½ years in a state facility for sex offenders, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor s Office.
The Egg Harbor City man, who is a registered sex offender, was convicted at trial last year on two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, the prosecutor s office said in a statement.
Rodriguez sexually assaulted his victim in August 2019, then gave her $10 and told her to keep the incident a secret because he didn t want to get in trouble with police, the statement said.

Tyner says Rodriguez was sentenced on two counts of second degree Sexual Assault of a Minor Child under 13, to 10 years subject to an 85% period of parole ineligibility for each count. Rodriguez also received a sentence of 5 years flat for third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Sexual Conduct. The defendant received 18 months for the fourth degree violation of Community Supervision for Life and that sentence is to run consecutive to the sexual assault counts. The defendant’s total sentence on all counts is 11 and a half years to be served at the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Facility in Avenel.
