Pioneer Bank is suing Atlantic Specialty Insurance Company over its legal fees and other costs as well as $1.1 million in damages in state supreme court in Albany. Pioneer provided provided a $42 million line of credit to MyPayrollHR and affiliated companies before the company collapsed Labor Day weekend in 2019. CEO Michael Mann later pleaded guilty to the $100 million fraud and is awaiting sentencing later this year.

The case stems from a trial involving a case where a Gallatin County snowplow collided with a woman s car in 2017. Beginning on November 16, 2020, a non-jury trial was held in the case of Daniels vs. Gallatin County. The case involved an accident on the East Frontage Road that occurred on January 12, 2017, when a County snowplow collided with Ms. Daniels’s car. On March 10, 2021, District Judge Rienne McElyea entered an Order finding that Gallatin County and its snowplow driver Rick Blackwood were negligent in causing the accident involving Ms. Daniels.
