Officials with Atlantic County report that beginning today (Tuesday, April 13th), the Eighth Street Bridge over the Penny Pot Stream in Folsom will be closed after an inspection revealed, extensive damage to the superstructure of the bridge. Officials say the damage is so bad that the bridge will need to be replaced.

The bridge is located between the Atlantic City Expressway and Mays Landing-Blue Anchor Road (which is right off of the Black Horse Pike). The route is a straight run between the eastern parts of Hammonton and Route 322.

Drunk driver struck fire truck that arrived to help him following crash, cops say

A drunk driver attempting to flee following a single-vehicle crash on the Atlantic City Expressway struck a fire truck that came to assist, State Police said.
State Police troopers arrived before the 27-year-old Williamstown man could drive off and took him and his passenger who had a gun into custody, authorities said.
The incident unfolded after Sean Bradford crashed his car on the eastbound Expressway near milepost 39.6 in Winslow around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a State Police spokesman.
Bradford was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and several motor vehicle offenses after ramming the Winslow Fire Department truck.
