The 2021 season marks the 15th-consecutive year that the Atlantic Provinces and Standardbred Canada have partnered to offer the Atlantic Provinces Bursary Program. This project could award up to five students in the Atlantic provinces bursaries towards their postsecondary education this year.
If you are a student residing in the Atlantic provinces and attending a post-secondary institution (trade school, community college or university) this fall, this is an opportunity that could help you pay for your tuition.
The bursaries will be awarded based on participation in the industry, academic and financial need. Applicants will be required to submit a typewritten essay on the following topic:

Red Shores racetrack places 45 horses in isolation after strangles tests
The Red Shores racetrack in Charlottetown has placed 45 horses in isolation after receiving a positive PCR test for the bacteria that causes strangles. Yet according to a release from Red Shores, out of the 199 horses tested on the grounds, not one was identified as having clinical signs of the respiratory condition.

Red Shores racetrack in lockdown as all horses tested for strangles
The Red Shores racetrack in Charlottetown is in a complete lockdown in an effort to control an outbreak of strangles. About 200 horses at the track were tested late last week and officials are now awaiting those results before deciding on further actions.
