The chief nurse at the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has praised Watford FC for their contributions to the vaccinations of around 11,000 NHS staff. Over 22,000 vaccination jabs were distributed to local health and social care staff in West Hertfordshire at Watford FC’s Vicarage Road. But following the massive vaccination rollout, the space at the Hornet’s ground that was utilised as a ‘Team West Hertfordshire Sanctuary’ shut last Friday (April 23). The sanctuary was being used to help NHS staff relax between the winter Covid wave, and as a vaccination centre for NHS staff. Watford FC first helped out the trust near the start of the pandemic in April last year, with rooms set aside for bedrooms, training areas for young nurses and counselling rooms amid stress from the first wave of the virus.

Watford FC will be closing down its Covid vaccination centre for West Hertfordshire Hospital staff. Space at Vicarage Road has been utilised as the Team West Hertfordshire Sanctuary to help NHS staff relax and as a vaccination site for staff over the course of the winter wave of Covid-19. However, the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has announced that the vaccination centre will close from next Friday (April 23). For West Herts NHS staff, this will be the last chance to get a vaccine jab with the help of the NHS Trust. Anyone who has not had their vaccine yet is asked to contact the staff hub at 01923217342 or at westherts.covid19@nhs.net
Watford FC has relaunched its support for NHS workers to utilise its stadium as a sanctuary away from the Covid-19 pandemic. And now, with a soar of admissions and staff being asked to postpone their annual leave where possible, the need for the Team West Hertfordshire Sanctuary has returned. From Monday to Fridays, the club will be open between 10.30am and 3.30pm to offer a canteen for West Hertfordshire NHS staff so they can relax away from the hospital. A meal deal of sandwiches, snacks and drinks for £2 will be offered, or staff can bring in their own. Coffee and biscuits are available for £1.
