Iâm not what you would call a die-hard âspokesâ person or pedal head, but I do love a good mountain bike bomb or a leisurely cruise through the countryside.
Whether youâre a âcycle-path,â a smooth cruiser or a knobby know-it-all, when it comes to biking, youâll find plenty happening to get â and keep â the wheels turning.
Here are some highlights of this yearâs event:
A Bicycle Resource Fair, to kick of Grand Valley Bike Month, will go from 10 a.m.ânoon, Saturday, May 1, at the Central Library, Mesa County Libraries, 443 N. Sixth St. There will be a variety of bicycle resources and information from local organizations, bike commuting, bike maintenance, Safe Routes to School, safety, health/training tips, helmet fitting, bike registration, helmets for kids and more.
Angel De Anda won the Award of Excellence for his 104.7 LaJefa mid-day show.
Scott Staley and Aly Billingsley won a second place Award of Merit for their 107.3 The Outlaw Scott & Aly B morning show.
The Grand Junction Media radio stations compete in the Radio Major category that includes stations from Colorado Springs, Greeley, Fort Collins and Pueblo.

Scottâs Automotive and Service Centers Inc. has opened a new location at 3206 E. Road in Clifton.
Scott Milan founded the company 28 years ago in Fort Collins. This is the second Western Slope location after the company established roots in Montrose last year.
Nuclear Care Partners, which provides services to former atomic workers who have developed serious illnesses due to workplace exposure to radiation or toxic chemicals, is marking National Nurses Week by recognizing local âHealthcare Heroes.â
Each week in May, the organization will select a worker nominated by the Tri-Valley community to be recognized on social media for their âincredible determination and kind hearts for service.â
National Nurses Week is May 6-12.
