Steps discussed to curb use of drugs in KP universities July 10, 2021 PESHAWAR: A forum here on Saturday discussed a work plan for curbing the abuse of drugs and extremism in universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The forum thoroughly discussed the issues related to use of drugs at the campuses and evaluated various options. A handout said it was the second session of the forum to discuss issues related to the use of drugs at campuses. It also discussed steps being taken to prevent extremism and use of drugs in the higher educational institutions in the province. The Governor’s Secretariat in collaboration with the Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and National Counter Terrorism Authority had arranged the forum at the Governor’s House.

Two-day workshop

By Bureau report PESHAWAR: The participants of a session on Thursday called for promoting sports and cultural activities in the universities to discourage the students’ tendencies to drugs and other unhealthy activities. They were speaking at the first session of a two-day workshop arranged at the Governor’s House for prevention of extremism and use of drugs in the higher educational institutions in the province. It was arranged in collaboration with Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and National Counter-Terrorism Authority. The focal persons from both the private and public sector universities of KP and representatives of the Anti-Narcotics Force attended the event.

Education authorities new building inaugurated Peshawar April 24, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has opened the new building of the Higher Education Regulatory Authority KP for official business. Kamran Bangash, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education, inaugurated the structure in Phase-V Hayatabad, Peshawar on Friday. The authority KP Chairman Dr Amber Ali Khan gave him a briefing, said an official handout. The special assistant said the role of the authority is important in improving the quality of education. He directed that the regulation process of 282 colleges, 11 universities and campuses should be improved while work on registering private hostels should be expedited.
