Cease Using Sirens By July Or Else - G/A Minister Warns

  The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has issued a final warning to political elites and other persons who abuse sirens and strobe lights in the country. He said after July, persons who do not fall within the qualified category will not be spared when they violate the law. Per regulation 74 of the Road Traffic Regulations of 2012 (L.I. 2180), the law lists the following as the categories of entities permitted to install and use sirens: They include a government vehicle used for official purposes by the Head of State, a Police vehicle, a motor vehicle used by the Fire Service and a motor vehicle used as an ambulance by a hospital or clinic.

  Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has threatened to mention the names of about seven (7) Members of Parliament (MPs) who are standing in the way of progress in the Greater Accra region. These MPs, according to the Minister, reportedly had a secret meeting with the leaders of the onion sellers association and convinced them to resist their proposed relocation from Agbogbloshie to Adjen Kotoku. But the Regional Minister warned that his outfit will not countenance any resistance or opposition to agreed principles. The onion sellers after having so many discussions; we went through a lot of processes, now you show bad faith and follow these MPs? I can assure them that if by 1st July, they have not relocated, we will move them .

Accra: All Abossey Okai spare parts dealers to relocate to Afienya - Minister

705 Plans are underway for the relocation of all spare parts dealers from Abossey Okai in Accra to Afienya. According to the new Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, who has initiated a campaign to “Make Accra work again”, the government has identified a land in Afienya and was working towards allocating it to the spare parts dealers. The land, he said is owned by the government and that letters have already been sent to the Lands Commission under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources for the allocation. He was of the hope that deliberations on the land would be finalized by the end of 2021 and hinted that, we are looking at some 100 to 200 acres in Afienya for the spare parts village.
