“She enjoys all of it but she loves the science and cooking and working with her hands,” mom Karen Edh said.
Camp Stride is a new summer offering by the board this year, joining other camps that focus on reading, oral language skills, English language, music, STEAM and Indigenous culture.
Camp Stride is geared specifically to elementary students with special needs who participated in virtual GAINS classes this past year.

Walton expressed surprise that the local health unit had not met with education workers despite several requests.
“They have put out another request to have a conversation from the perspective of education workers,” Walton said. “Education workers have had much different experiences than their teaching colleagues.”
