New York State will lose one of its 27 congressional districts as part of a reapportionment plan released Monday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The number of congressional seats in each state are adjusted every 10 years based on population figures in the census.
According to the plan released by the Census Bureau, New York had a population of 20,215,751 in the 2020 census and would have retained all 27 of its congressional seats if the state’s population was just 89 people higher.

The Wolfinger family recently decided to expand the philanthropic scope of the Wolfinger Family Fund and have made possible $5,500 in grants to organizations and projects chosen by the family.
The fund was originally established by area residents Sandy and Connie Wolfinger to support projects and equipment purchases in the Ellicottville, Smethport (PA) and Coudersport (PA) School districts. Those grants from the fund will continue, but this year and the years coming the family decided to also make donor advised grants to nonprofits chosen by the family.
