CLEVELAND A virtual summit kicked off Wednesday to announce Cleveland and Atlanta as two cities that will each receive more than 100,000 meals to make sure local kids and families have access to healthy food.
Honorary chair of Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) and former First lady Michelle Obama says it’s a worthwhile cause.
“We want to make sure that no matter where you live or no matter how tight your budget, you can access good food for your family,” says Mrs. Obama.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Greater Cleveland Food Bank will be having their weekly drive-thru food distribution Thursday, May 13.
The event is taking place rain or shine from 1-4 p.m. in the Muni Lot.
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank said it plans to distribute a combination of fresh produce and one box of shelf-stable food per family.
Anyone who plans to attend will need to follow the following guidelines given by the Greater Cleveland Food Bank:

Cuyahoga County will receive $239.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act relief funding from the federal government over the next two years, with half that nearly $120 million coming in May. This funding provides an opportunity to invest in our people, social services organizations, small businesses and infrastructure. It is a much more worthwhile investment than using it to simply support Cuyahoga County s bureaucracy, which was largely the case with the CARES Act funding last year.
Last year, the county spent more than $120 million of federal CARES Act relief on itself covering payroll, buying vehicles and subsidizing the money-draining Hilton Hotel and Convention Center, among other things. Only a tiny fraction of these vital dollars went to help small businesses and restaurants. Even less went to social services agencies, which were busier than ever last year.
