Former high school site in Radcliffe to be cleared for housing

PLANS have been approved to clear the site of the former Radcliffe High School so that it can be used to build new homes. Work is set to start in the next few weeks after Bury Council’s planning committee gave the go ahead for demolition and other works at the school site on Abden Street. A report to councillors, said that the intentions for the site go back more than 10 years. It said: “The application site relates to 2.3 hectares of land which formally comprised Radcliffe High School site and its grounds. “The main school building has long since been demolished and the northern part of the site redeveloped into Millwood School, for children with special educational needs.
