This moving day, 107 households and counting are receiving support from the city because they are unable to find accommodation on their own.

“These are people who called 311,” said Projet Montréal councillor Craig Sauvé. “There are probably other people out there that never got around to calling 311 or never asked for help from anybody, that are stuck.”
Housing rights group the Front d’action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) says moving day is just one symptom of a larger problem. An increase in rental prices and illegal evictions coupled with low vacancy rates and a lack of social housing are all contributing factors.
