Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation officials are gearing up to issue attachment notices against the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) office located in Greater Visakhapatnam for not paying property tax. The GVMC officials had sent demand notices but the TDP officials had not responded.
The TDP headquarters near Seven Hills in the city was supposed to pay property tax of Rs 27 Lakh for the year 2020-21. However only the TDP office bearers paid Rs 10 Lakh after repeated notices and Rs 17 Lakhs were due.
Authorities sent notices for the remaining payment, but received no proper response from the TDP office. After the stipulated time was over GVMC officials prepared a notice for the property tax arrears of Rs 17 Lakh. GVMC Zonal commissioner Phani Ram said that they would attach notices to the building like normal practise.

District Collector V. Vinay Chand has underlined the importance of the nodal officers in ensuring free and fair polls in the ensuing panchayat elections, which will be held in four phases in the district.
At a review meeting here on Friday, the Collector directed them to make foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of the polls. He spoke on the appointment of route officers, zonal officers, preparation of route maps, arrangement of vehicles, videography, postal ballot, ballot papers, ballot boxes, transport of polling staff.

Renovation works for the NTR VMRDA Park, known as VUDA park, at Beach Road, are put on fast-track since the last couple of months and are nearing completion. Though the park comes under the supervision of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan region Development Authority (VMRDA), the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials are carrying out the development project as part of the Smart City initiative and aim to complete it by the next one month.

With a motto to combat plastic menace and recycle it, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has set up 10 plastic bottle crushing machines at various places. GVMC Commissioner G. Srijana inaugurated a machine at the City Central Park here on Tuesday.
Ms. Srijana said that three of the 10 plastic bottle crushing machines will be arranged at GVMC office, City Central Park and Beach Road. She instructed Chief Engineer M Venkateswar Rao to arrange the remaining seven machines at various other public places. She said that each crushing machine costs about ₹10 lakh. Stressing the need for recycle and reuse of plastic, she said that all it needs for people is just to drop the waste/used plastic in the machine. She also explained the measures being taken by the civic body to combat plastic.
