Australian regional bid for 2030 Commonwealth Games halted due to coronavirus Saturday, 13 February 2021 A proposed multi-centre bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Victoria in Australia has been put on hold due to the coronavirus crisis, it has been revealed. The bid was launched nearly four years ago by the City of Greater Shepparton with events spread around the state in Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong, Nagambie, Traralgon, Warrnambool, Wodonga and Yarrawonga. The Greater Shepparton City Council had claimed, when announcing the initiative in April 2017, that their model called the “The Greater Victoria” bid could help secure the future of the Commonwealth Games. Date Time Roadworks occurring Mooroopna Greater Shepparton City Council advises the community of upcoming roadworks scheduled in Mooroopna from 15 February until mid-April, 2021 between the hours of 7am to 7pm weather permitting. Works will occur in: Alexandra/Morrell Streets – Thoroughfare access via Alexandra Street and Morrell Street. Northgate/ Ann Streets – Thoroughfare access via Northgate Street and Ann Street. Ann/ Morrell Streets – Thoroughfare access via Ann Street and Morrell Street. The works include installation of splitter islands to improve pedestrian safety under the Safe Travel in Local Streets program. Access to businesses and residences adjacent to the works will be maintained. Council requests that Motorists be aware of changed conditions and take additional care when travelling in this area during the works.

Date Time One Tree Per Child needs more locations to plant trees Greater Shepparton City Council is currently seeking interest from residents to participate in the One Tree Per Child Project, by identifying suitably available roadside reserve areas with the capacity for planting local native indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses. One Tree Per Child is a global project which aims to plant one indigenous plant for every child within the Municipality aged under 16. The program commenced in 2016 and has seen a total of 96,000 trees planted across Greater Shepparton. Greater Shepparton City Council’s target for 2021 is to plant 25,500 plants. One Tree Per Child will provide opportunities for every child in Greater Shepparton to see native plants grow for the benefit of the community and the environment.
