Campaspe Shire Council pledges more small business supports

Victorian Small Business Commission Campaspe Shire Council has partnered with the Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) to provide more support to local businesses to do business. The new partnership is through the Small Business Friendly Council initiative, which the VSBC is aiming to roll out to all 79 local government areas in Victoria. The council – currently one of 61 to have made the pledge – will work with the VSBC on important measures including: helping small businesses to keep trading while infrastructure works are underway – including consulting with business owners during the planning phase paying small business suppliers within 14 days helping new local business networks to get up and running and existing ones to thrive

Pick Shepp expands across Goulburn Valley

Date Time ‘Pick Shepp’ expands across Goulburn Valley Greater Shepparton City Council and Fruit Growers Victoria’s seasonal worker attraction campaign ‘Pick Shepp’ has received additional funding to expand across the Goulburn Valley. Launched in December, the campaign aimed at attracting seasonal workers from around Australia to the region to work the harvest and support Aussie farmers due to the impacts of COVID-19. Fruit Growers Victoria was successful in applying to the Regional Recovery fund supported by Regional Development Victoria (RDV) for $500,000 to grow ‘Pick Shepp’ on a larger scale, and be rebranded as ‘Pick Goulburn Valley (GV)’ and deliver it throughout the wider region in partnership with Greater Shepparton City Council and Cobram and District Fruit Growers Association.

Maude Street works completed between Vaughan and Rowe Streets

Date Time Maude Street works completed between Vaughan and Rowe Streets Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to advise that works on Maude Street, between Vaughan and Rowe Streets, have been completed with the road now re-opened to motorists. Works on this stretch of road commenced in April with their completion marking an important milestone in the Maude Street Revitalisation Project. Construction has now moved further north along Maude Street, between Rowe and High Streets, with this section of road currently closed to allow the remaining construction to be completed. The works between Vaughan and Rowe Streets saw the removal of the previous bus interchange to make way for the new site along Maude Street, between Vaughan and Ashenden Streets. This new bus interchange will be operational from Monday 2 August.

Date Time Greater Shepparton City Council Powered by 100% Renewable Energy From 1 July 2021 Greater Shepparton City Council will be powered by 100% renewable energy. Red Energy, an Australian owned and operated retailer will provide 240GWh of clean power per year to 46 councils, equivalent to powering 48,000 homes with renewables or removing the emissions from 90,000 cars every year. Solar panels installed at Council’s Welsford Street offices in 2018 Council joined 45 other Councils to form VECO, the Victorian Energy Collaboration, and the largest emissions reductions project undertaken by the local government sector. The 46 Councils pooled their electricity needs into one long-term contract with Red Energy which will provide the VECO group with renewable energy generated from wind farms here in Victoria. From 1 July 2021, Council buildings, recreation reserves and sporting recreation facilities, streetlights, libraries and a growing number of Council electric vehicle
