Greater Shepparton projects awarded excellence
Greater Shepparton City Council is honoured to be awarded the 2021 Special Projects Initiative LGPro Award for Excellence.
The awards promote and celebrate the outstanding work undertaken and delivered by Local Government in Victoria.
Greater Shepparton was recognised as the top initiative in the state with its successful delivery of the UCI Supercross BMX World Cup in 2020. Council was also nominated as a finalist for its Covid-19 Youth Campaign in the Service Delivery Category.
The stand out components of the UCI Supercross BMX World Cup which earned its winning place according to the judges were the ability to deliver on a vision, its ability to value add to the region through an International Cycling Event, Bikes and Bites festival, and developing a suite of innovative initiatives to help broaden visitation to the region. Greater Shepparton Visitor Experience Innovation Grants Now Open
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Visitor Experience Innovation Grants are now open, with funding of up to $5000 available for individual projects.
The Visitor Experience Innovations Grants were introduced as a follow on from Council’s Economic Response to COVID-19 Package and aim to assist businesses in Greater Shepparton’s Visitor Economy Industry to undertake initiatives and projects that will assist to improve the tourism offering in the region.
This is the second round of this overall program after the Round 1 Visitor Economy Recovery and Activation Grant Program saw 12 local businesses receive funding for projects in 2020.

Toolamba Bridge Reopened
Greater Shepparton City Council advises Toolamba Bridge is now open to traffic. Some maintenance works will continue underneath the bridge until Friday 26 February and traffic will be able to pass over the bridge during that time.

Shepparton is set to welcome the return of one of the city’s favourite events, the Summer City Market, offering two big days of summer savings across the city on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 February.
Although this year will look different to others, our local traders are ready to welcome you back to the CBD and explore all the local offerings.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said there would be great promotions on offer across the whole CBD.
“Our local businesses need the support of the community. I encourage shoppers to get out and find a bargain, the Summer City Market will have fashion, homewares, jewellery and much more on sale throughout the event and unique market stalls, roving live music and food vendors, so treat yourself to a great day out and support our local businesses,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
