Telangana’s virus tally up by 148 cases

A total of 148 COVID-19 cases and a fatality were recorded in Telangana on Sunday, taking the number of infections in the State to 2,93,401 and death toll to 1,590.
The new cases include 35 from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, 11 Rangareddy and 10 Karimnagar. No cases was detected in Wanaparthy, Rajanna Sircilla, Narayanpet, Kamareddy and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Sunday saw 19,821 samples being tested; results of 260 individuals were awaited. Of those who were examined, 16,952 choose government health centres and the rest opted for private labs.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has suo moto initiated contempt proceedings against revenue authorities for not deleting Sy No. 78 of Hafeezpet from the prohibitory register to facilitate the registration of properties.
In a related development, the court levied a fine of Rs 10,000 on the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for denying permission to two individuals to build their house in 300 square yards (sq. yds) and 461 sq. yds of land respectively in Sy No. 78.

Hyderabad: Warsi brothers will be performing Qawwali today at the Moazzam Jahi Market as part of the Republic Day celebrations in the city. The performance is part of the programme ‘Shaam-e-Suffiana’, organized by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day. The programme will be at 6.30 pm.
The restoration work at Moazzam Jahi Market, one of the major landmarks in this historic city, was recently completed. The authorities have announced plans to transform it into a cultural hub.
The case fatality rate in the state was 0.54 per cent, while it was 1.4 per cent at the national level. The recovery rate in Telangana was 98.30 per cent, while it was 96.8 per cent in the country.
Telangana on Saturday recorded another 197 COVID-19 cases after 29,560 people were examined, pushing up the tally to 2,93,253. The death toll has reached 1,589 with one more patient succumbing. Result
