Telangana reports 5,892 new COVID-19 cases, 46 deaths in 24 hours
Greater Hyderabad accounts for most number of reported cases

The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 73,851.
Telangana has reported a total of 4,81,640 COVID positive cases since the onset of the pandemic last year. 4,05,164 have recovered from the infection and 2,625 people succumbed to the virus.
79.8 per cent of the cases are asymptomatic and 20.2 per cent cases in the state are symptomatic.
According to the health bulletin, Telangana’s recovery rate is 84.12 per cent, and case fatality rate is 0.54 per cent.

Hyderabad, May 7 : All major Municipal Corporations in Telangana now have women Mayors and Deputy Mayors as the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Friday entrusted the key posts in Warangal and Khammam to women.
Women corporators of the TRS were unanimously elected as Mayors and Deputy Mayors of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) and Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC).
Former MP and TRS women wing President Gundu Sudha Rani was elected mayor of GWMC, the second biggest municipal corporation in the state after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Though the post was reserved for BC/general candidate, the TRS choose a woman leader as the mayor.
After Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam to have women mayors
In addition to these two corporations, four municipalities will have women chairpersons.

Hyderabad: Following GHMC’s route, the recently elected municipal corporations of Warangal and Khammam will also have women as mayors as per the reservation made for the posts this time.
Gadwal Vijayalakshmi was elected the Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in February. The civic body is reserved to have a woman mayor for another term too.
Following this Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) and Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) will also get women mayors.

Hyderabad, May 6 : Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Thursday visited an urban primary health centre in Hyderabad to see the functioning of the Covid outpatient services.
The state government has already launched Covid outpatient services in all the government hospitals, primary health centres and sub centres and across the state.
The chief secretary went around the urban primary health centre at Boggulakunta and enquired about the arrangements made for outpatient services. Doctors informed him that regular services are being provided in the health centre while Covid outpatient services are being provided in a community hall nearby. This is being done to avoid crowding.

Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar expressed confidence that COVID-19 cases were reduced in the last 10 days and reiterated that the curve was flattening. The Chief Secretary also said that a door-to-door survey was going on in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits as well as several districts, where a high number of Covid-19 cases have been reported.
In the GHMC area itself, health workers have identified nearly 1,500 people with fever and Covid symptoms for checkups and tests.
Andhra Pradesh has also done door-to-door surveys in the past few days to identify over 32,000 individuals with influenza-like symptoms as well as people with travel history.
