COVID-19: Chest Hospital docs threaten boycott, raise 6 demands

Hyderabad: Amid the surging daily COVID-19 cases in Telangana, doctors from state-run hospitals in the city have raised six demands for medical personnel to protect them against the spread of the disease. Senior resident doctors treating COVID patients at the Government General and Chest hospitals have threatened to boycott services related to the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
The decision was taken by the Telangana Senior Resident Doctors Association two days ago on April 22. Amid the spike in COVID-19 case, doctors have raised six demands and staged a protest in front of the Government General Chest Hospital, Erragda, holding placards and chanting slogans. They said they would sign the attendance register but would not treat patients until the government approved their six demands.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has deducted ₹1.55 crore from the bills payable to its contractors for deficiencies in works commissioned by various engineering wings of the corporation.
The amount was recovered on the basis of reports of quality control wing of GHMC after inspecting works in progress and completion. The deficiencies in works were pointed out to the field level executive engineers who were supposed to either get them rectified or recover money.
The recovery was made from works valued ₹1,500 crore executed by all engineering wings of GHMC from January to December last year, a release said.
On Friday, 7,432 people tested positive and 33 patients died
The number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Telangana continue to increase at an alarming rate. On Friday, 7,432 people tested positive and 33 patients have died, according to the daily media bulletin. The cases on Thursday were 6,206 and 29 patients had died. While 1,03,770 samples were tested, results of 5,136 were awaited.
Barring six districts, the remaining of the 33 districts reported triple digit cases. The highest of 1,464 were from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 606 from Medchal-Malkajgiri, 504 from Rangareddy.
The cases are spreading fast in rural districts too as 486 cases were reported from Nizamabad, 325 from Khammam, 280 from Mahbubnagar, 247 from Kamareddy. More districts reported over 200 cases. The lowest of 41 cases were from Nirmal.

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 6,206 fresh COVID-19 cases,pushing the tally to over 3.79 lakh, while the toll rose to 1928 with 29 more fatalities, the highest ever in a single day, the state government said on Friday.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 1,005, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (502) and Nizamabad (406), it said in a bulletin, providing details as of 8 PM on April 22.
Telangana Minister and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s son KT Rama Rao in a tweet on Friday said he tested positive for the virus.
