By IANS| Posted by Sakina Fatima | Updated: 19th April 2021 6:36 am IST Sanitisation drive Hyderabad: Municipal authorities in Hyderabad on Sunday took up intensive sanitisation drive and sprayed sodium hypochlorite at several places in the city in view of the massive surge in Covid-19 cases. On the direction of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took up sanitisation on war footing. Spraying of sodium hypochlorite was taken up at 636 places in the city by 453 teams of the Entomology Department. In a single day, they sprayed 900 litres of disinfectant. The teams used 840 sprayers, seven jet machines, 63 big fogging machines, and 302 small fogging machines for spraying in over 16,000 habitations.

GHMC Has No Containment Zones But Only COVID Hotspots Apr 19, 2021, 08:54 IST The new coronavirus strain has turned airborne and the infection is spreading like wildfire in Telangana. According to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials, there are no longer any containment zones in Hyderabad, only hotspots. The government of Telangana had adopted strict methods to contain the spread of coronavirus last year but this year, the strategy is completely different. The GHMC officials said that they are identifying hot spots - localities with high population density, such as gated communities and slums. They further added that they aren’t declaring any area as a containment zone. But they are urging locals to follow physical distancing norms and restrict movement in and out of such hotspots.
