Oman weather: Electricity restored in North, South Al Batinah governorates, says APSR By: Times News Service Muscat: The Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) has confirmed that it has restored electricity in North and South Al Batinah Governorates following the outage due to heavy rains. A statement issued online by APSR said : The authority is following up the work carried out by the electricity companies and their technical teams to restore electricity to the areas affected by the thunderstorm that affected some of the wilayats of the governorates of North and South Al Batinah. As a result of the efforts made by all the concerned authorities, a large proportion of the damaged networks have been repaired. However, restoring the electrical current in some areas may require a longer time due to the severe damage caused to some parts of the electrical network.

A statement online issued by the Authority for Public Services Regulation said: ” The authority organized a workshop on the first of April 2021 for companies in the manufacture, distribution and retail sale of general lighting lamps in the Sultanate, on the subject of light bulbs and lighting technologies. The workshop is part of the authority s efforts to formulate a national policy to start phasing out ineffective lights in terms of energy. As well as to adopt a program to implement the development of necessary regulations that would limit the manufacture, import, or sale of ineffective public lighting lamps in the Sultanate. A number of companies attended the virtual workshop which provided them with an overview of the phasing out of inefficient lighting initiative.”
