‘No global scientific evidence that virus targets particular age group,’ says Health Ministry The possibility of a resurgence in COVID-19 infection is “speculative” and will depend on the “behaviour” of citizens and the virus, the Health Ministry has told the Supreme Court.
“Possibility of any such resurgence would necessarily be speculative at this stage. However, the possibility of resurgence would depend on the behaviour pattern of the virus and the behaviour of the citizens, whether they follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour or not,” the Ministry said.
Decline in daily new Covid-19 cases continues, with the lowest number, 1.86 lakh, since April 14 recorded yesterday. 24 states have reported a decline in surge. Daily positivity rate too has dipped to 9%. The number of deaths remained under 4,000. Over 29 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, according to health ministry data. New Delhi [India], May 30 (ANI): The Centre on Saturday reconstituted the six empowered groups into ten in order to tackle the current COVID-19 situation in the country.
The Centre formed panels of Emergency Management Plan and Strategy, Emergency Response Capabilities, Augmenting Human Resources and Capacity Building, Oxygen, Vaccination, Testing, Partnerships, Information Communication and Public Engagement, Economic and Welfare Measures, and Pandemic Response and Coordination.
Dr VK Paul, member (Health), NITI Aayog, will be the convener for the empowered group for Emergency Management Plan and Strategy panel, which will have 10 other members.
