The New Mexico State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting off south Los Lentes Road involving a Valencia County Sheriffâs deputy.
Valencia County Sheriffâs Office spokesman Lt. Joseph Rowland said deputies responded to a call for a disturbance on Plata shortly before 7 a.m. today, Saturday, March 6. Plata is a short residential road that runs east off Los Lentes Road, north of the Mid Valley Airpark.
Rowland said during the course of the investigation, shots were fired and at least one VCSO deputy discharged their weapon.
âThere have been no previous officer involved shootings with this officer,â he said. âThe resident who was struck by gun fire was transported to an Albuquerque for treatment.â

GARDEN CITY, Mich. – Police released details Saturday night regarding the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in Garden City.

According to authorities, the incident began Feb. 24, just after 1:15 a.m. when a person entered the Garden City Police Department and said they had been the victim of domestic violence involving a firearm.
Police said the victim was in fear of their life as Alonte Murphy had continued to threaten them over the telephone.

Joe Johnson was shot and killed by police in his Idaho Falls, Idaho, back yard by mistake earlier this month while police was searching the neighborhood for a suspect who fled a traffic stop.
Idaho Falls Police admitted their officer shot and killed the wrong man.
“This situation is devastating and tragic for all involved,” Idaho Falls Police Chief Bryce Johnson said.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) The California Highway Patrol is facing a $15-million lawsuit by the family of man who was shot and killed by one of its officers last month.
On Thursday, the family of Charley McMurtry filed a claim against the CHP for negligence and wrongful death. They took him, they took my love, my person, said Ann McMurtry.
The McMurtry family with their attorney held a press conference to announce the claim. On Feb. 5, McMurtry s family said he suffered a mental health breakdown while driving with his wife along the I-10 freeway in Upland.
