GRANVILLE — Granville successfully rounded-out a four-day, Fourth of July celebration that seemed like good old, pre-COVID times on Monday with a parade filled with local faces.
As a result of pandemic-fueled health regulations during summer 2020, the Granville Kiwanis’ annual 4th of July Celebration was notable for required face-coverings, some sidewalk chalking and decorating contests, but no rides or carnival food.
But Granville celebrated Independence Day 2021 starting with Friday night fireworks, a downtown packed with rides and carnival food concession stands, and it ended with a patriotic parade and foot race through its downtown Monday.
Early Monday morning, Jerry Miller, who co-chaired the annual event with his wife, Lesa, said: "It's just wonderful to be in a small town and look down the midway and see all this, then tomorrow you come back and it will all be gone."

The pandemic has hit the supply of new shows in the factual and documentary space, as it has in the scripted arena, attendees of the virtual edition of TV conference MipTV heard Friday.
During his presentation on trends in unscripted content, David Ciaramella, communications manager at research firm K7 Media, said: “There have been few new shows really taking the industry by storm so far this year. Disruption caused by the pandemic is well-known and well-documented in the world of scripted television, but factual and documentary producers have also been affected.
