On December 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the New Bhaupur-New Khurja section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) in Uttar Pradesh—a 351-km section, built at a cost of Rs 5,750 crore. The full stretch of the Eastern DFC will run from Ludhiana to Kolkata, covering a total of 1,800 km, and is expected to be operational by next year.
