Ealing students and staff celebrate Bees promotion STUDENTS and staff at the University of West London in Ealing were particularly delighted as Brentford FC secured promotion to the Premier League. Brentford and UWL have a long-term partnership, with the university becoming the first new stadium founder partner last year. The collaboration offers employment for students, allowing them to learn from the top-class operations which propelled the club to success. Prof Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, said: “Huge congratulations to Brentford. This is great news, not just for football fans but for the whole community in West London.”
They are filling some of the 50 vacant governor places. One volunteer, Outreach Manager Krishna Maroo, has been a volunteer governor at her former secondary school, Northolt High, for the past year, joining online meetings during lockdown to ensure activity is not affected. She said: “There is a huge shortage of governors in Ealing, both in primary and secondary schools, so to be able to give back and be involved in addressing that is so inspiring.” Prof Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at UWL, said having people at the heart of the community was another way of growing partnerships in Ealing.
