PM Narendra Modi addresses the media at Parliament House as he arrives to attend the Budget session.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the coming decade is vital for Indiaâs progress and that we have to remember the vision and dreams of the greats who fought for our nationâs freedom . He said that a golden opportunity has come before the nation to fulfill the dreams seen by the freedom fighters . This decade should be fully utilised. Keeping this in mind, there should be discussions in this session focussing on the decade - this is expected by the nation. I believe that we will not lag behind in making our contribution for the fulfilment of people s aspiration,  he told reporters outside the Parliament on the day 1 of the Budget Session.

Budget Session of Parliament to begin today with President s address
The Budget Session of Parliament commences on Friday with President Ram Nath Kovind s address. As per the set tradition, the President addressed the joint sitting of Parliament at the Central Hall. The speech highlighted the government s plan and policy vision for the next financial year. He also highlighted the work carried out by the government in the past years.
The first part of the Budget Session is scheduled to conclude on February 15 while the second part will commence on March 8 and is expected to end on April 8. Given the Covid-19 outbreak, Parliament will sit in two shifts. The morning session is dedicated to the Rajya Sabha while the Lok Sabha will sit in the evening. The Rajya Sabha will sit from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the Lok Sabha will sit from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sixteen opposition parties to boycott Presidential address in Parliament
New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) A total 16 opposition parties, including Indian National Congress, will boycott the Presidential address in Parliament on Friday to register their protest against newly-enacted farm laws and show solidarity towards farmers protesting at Delhi s borders for more than two months, an official statement said on Thursday.
As per the official release, the parties which have agreed to boycott the address are Indian National Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK),All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Commusnist Party of India (CPI), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), Jammu and Kashmir People s Democratic Party (PDP), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Kerala Cong
