New Delhi, May 3 : Five-time world chess champion Viswanathan Anand and Asian Games gold medallist Koneru Humpy will kick-start Checkmate Covid an All India Chess Federation (AICF) initiative on Tuesday to provide medical and financial assistance to those affected by the pandemic.
The AICF in a tweet on Monday wrote, Introducing Checkmate Covid, an initiative by AICF aimed at providing financial assistance, medical guidance & vaccination support to all the members of the Indian Chess Community to combat Covid-19. The AICF will be launching the #CheckmateCovid Fund to kick-start this initiative.

Chennai, April 4 : Fourteen-year-old V. Pranav joined the select list of players in Tamil Nadu who have successfully defended their state chess title in successive tournaments.
He joins the select group of players like International Masters (IM) Manuel Aaron, R. Ravisekhar, and K. Murugan, in the strong chess-playing state, who retained the state chess title in successive tourneys.
A couple of days back, Pranav won the Tamil Nadu State Open FIDE Rated Chess Championship Tournament-2021, held at Tirunelveli district, winning all the nine games.

Jalandhar, March 14 : The Senior National Chess Championship will be held in Kanpur from April 13 to 20 and the first Punjab International Grandmasters (GMs) tournament would also be played this year in Jalandhar, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) announced on Sunday.
While making this announcement, AICF President Sanjay Kapoor also shared new initiatives and development programme for chess. We believe that fans need to see top players in action for chess to become a true phenomenon in the country and we aim to have the cream of the players for this tournament, he said.
