Adhikari, who was once considered to be a close aide of TMC president and West Bengal president Mamata Banerjee, tendered his resignation to Assembly Speaker.  I do hereby tender my resignation from the member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Steps may be taken for its immediate acceptance, Adhikari wrote in his hand-written letter.  However, Bengal Speaker Biman Banerjee on Saturday refused to accept the TMC MLA s resignation on technical grounds and also raised questions over its authencity.

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to provide Z category security to rebel TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari in West Bengal. According to the order issued by MHA, Security arrangement for Suvendu Adhikari has been examined in this Ministry in consultation with Central Security Agencies and it has been decided to provide him Z category CRPF security cover with the bulletproof vehicle in West Bengal. Y + category CRPF security cover in other states, MHA added. Adhikari recently tendered his resignation to party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He also resigned from the West Bengal Legislative Assembly tendering his resignation to the Speaker.

The two-time MLA from West Bengal s Kanthi Uttar constituency said she has sent her resignation to TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee over email. I do hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the All India Trinamool Congress as well as from each and every post or assignment given to me in connection with my membership of the party, Maity said in her letter. This has triggered speculations that the legislator might join the long list of ruling party leaders who are likely to join the BJP.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee (File photo) NEW DELHI: In another blow to Mamata Banerjee, Barrackpore MLA Shilbhadra Dutta resigned from the Trinamool Congress on Friday. This is the third major exit from the party in two days. On Thursday, Suvendu Adhikari quit the party after giving up his cabinet portfolios in the state government and resigning as an MLA. Following Adhikari s footsteps, Pandabeswar MLA and Asansol civic body chief Jitendra Tiwari also quit the party. Former minister Shyamaprasad Mukherjee too had announced that he would leave the party. TMC leader Kabirul Islam also resigned from the post of general secretary of the party s minority cell.
