Chennai/Puducherry: Curtains came down on the single-phase Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Polling was peaceful across the state and the Union Territory.
While computing the final turnout will take time, in Tamil Nadu, the voter turnover as of 5 p.m., was 63.65 per cent and in Puducherry, it was about 78 per cent, officials said.
Voting for the lone Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha seat where the bypoll was simultaneously held came to an end.

Chennai, April 5 : The dawn of Tuesday will see about 6.26 crore one day sultans in Tamil Nadu exercising their democratic rights to vote their ruler from Fort St. George here for the next five years.
Apart from the Assembly elections, there will also be the bypoll for the Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha seat in the state.
The high voltage electioneering for the 234 Assembly seats and the sole Lok Sabha seat came to an end in the state on Sunday evening.

31 Assembly constituencies will go to polls on April 6
Campaign for the third phase of West Bengal election for 31 Assembly segments that will go to polls on April 6 ended on Sunday. After polling in 60 Assembly segments in the south western parts of the State in the first two phases, constituencies in the southern part are going to the polls in the third phase.
These 31 Assembly segments are concentrated in three districts Howrah, Hooghly and South 24 Parganas. There are 205 candidates in fray in 31 seats of which eight are located in Hooghly district, seven in Howrah and 16 constituencies in South 24 Parganas district. Twelve of the 31 constituencies are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates.
