Rebalancing EU industrial policy to guarantee a socially just transition

IndustriAll Europe presents its demands in anticipation of next month’s publication of the revitalised European industrial strategy. Accelerating climate action and digitalisation need concrete answers now. Inequalities within and between countries must be tackled so ‘no one will be left behind’. We cannot afford further delays of the new strategy. The canaries in the mine Representing seven million manufacturing, mining and energy sector workers across Europe, industriAll European Trade Union’s members are not only contributing actively to the green and digital transitions with their daily work, but they are also at a very high risk if the transition is badly managed. IndustriALL calls on the ILO and the EU to intervene in Belarus

2 March, 2021As the entire Belarusian independent union movement is under threat, a stronger involvement and intervention by the international community is urgently needed in Belarus. Swedish Systemair union busting in Turkey

27 January, 2021Turkish union Birleşik Metal İş has filed a complaint with the OECD over labour relations concerns against Swedish multinational Systemair, after attempts to peacefully resolve a conflict have failed. After organizing more than 50 per cent of the workers at Systemair’s Turkish manufacturing subsidiary Systemair HSK, the Turkish Ministry of Labour certified IndustriALL affiliate Birleşik Metal-İş as a bargaining agent in October last year. But instead of engaging with the union, local management appealed the decision from MoL, a common union busting tactic by Turkish employers. In direct connection with the appeal, local management used Covid-19 measures as an excuse to force union members to go on unpaid leave. Currently 21 union members are on unpaid leave.
