Cement sales expand 20% in FY21 Construction package, progress on Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme aid growth LAHORE: The cement sector reported a robust sales growth of 20.12% in fiscal year 2020-21 mainly on the back of normalisation of construction activities due to a relief package announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan coupled with progress on the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme. In addition, substantial funds allocation for construction in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) also aided expansion of the sector. According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) on Friday, total sales of cement came in at 57.4 million tons during the just-ended fiscal year against 47.812 million tons in fiscal year 2019-20.

In separate letters to the ministers for power and maritime affairs, the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) demanded on Wednesday that the government should make multiple berths available for coal handling at KPT to minimise demurrage.

Cement sales grow 21pc in 11 months

Daily Times June 7, 2021 Cement sector showed excellent growth of around 21 percent during the first 11 months (July-May) of the current fiscal year 2020-21, as total cement dispatches during the month remained 52.222 million tonnes against 43.189 million tonnes during the corresponding period of last fiscal year. Likewise, growth remained around 50 percent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in May 2021, as total cement dispatches during the month remained 3.947 million tonnes as compared to 2.634 million tonnes during the same month in the previous fiscal year. According to data released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), the cement sector showed excellent growth of 49.86 percent in May 2021. Domestic cement dispatches during May increased to 3.201 million tonnes from 2.271 million tonnes in the same month in FY20. Exports massively rose by 105.56 percent – from 363,174 tonnes in May 2020 to 746,550 tonnes last month.
