The announcement by federal minister of education Shafqat Mahmood – regarding the closure of schools for grades I to VIII and the resumption of classes and subsequent board exams for grades IX to XII and O, AS and A Levels – has been met with ire by all stakeholders. While the minister has ensured that the Matric, Inter and Cambridge exams will be held under strict observation of all SOPs, students have taken to social media and warned coming out in protest against the decision. Private school associations across Sindh have also threatened to protest if schools were not allowed to re-open for grades I to VIII, while the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association (APPSCA) has announced a nationwide long march.

Islamabad : The representatives of the countrywide private educational institutions along with teachers and staff members will march on D-Chowk here this morning (Thursday) against the government s restriction on in-person classes.
According to All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association central president Malik Abrar Hussain, the march participants will reach D-Chowk at 11am using their respective routes.
They will include students and their parents, traders, civil society members, school van owners and drivers and stationery dealers.
He told reporters here that the prolonged closure of private schools’ by the government had forced their representatives and other stakeholders to take to the streets to claim the rights.

Islamabad: The representatives of private educational institutions have renewed their plans to march on streets and stage sit-ins across the country on April 8 against the government’s restriction on in-person classes.
Members of the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association along with students, teachers and parents will march on Islamabad’s D Chowk in the Red Zone and hold classes in the education ministry’s offices if the government doesn’t allow the resumption of in-person learning, association’s central president Malik Abrar Hussain told reporters here on Sunday.
Hussain said trader bodies had assured the association of their complete support and cooperation for the protest and active participation in it.

Hussain said trader bodies had assured the association of their complete support and cooperation for the protest and active participation in it. He said the government was managing the important education sector through ‘trial and error and thus, denying children and youth an easy access to education.
