By Sam Egburonu With this week’s inauguration of the party’s Women and Youth Mobilization Team, preparation for All Progressives Congress’ forthcoming nationwide membership registration and re-validation exercise has taken a new leap. While inaugurating the mobilization team at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, Yobe State Governor and Chairman of APC Caretaker and Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Mai-Mala Buni, said the appointment of the tentative ten-member committee is an extension of his team’s reconciliatory moves and “breath of new life into the party.” He said: “You are expected to mount a rigorous sensitization programme to effectively mobilize every member of the party, especially women and youth, to either revalidate their membership or register afresh.

Abia State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Asiforo Okere, had during stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, said  that the party embarked on tour of the 17 council areas where more than 3,000 members of the APC and All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, defected to the party across the state. “We rebuilt the confidence of our members and strengthened their tiers of unity. The hallmark of that was our harvest of not less than 2,000 opposition members particularly of APC and APGA stock across the state. In addition, new members numbering over 3,000 came up at different LGAs across the state and declared openly for the  party,” Okere said.

Addressing the stakeholders from the twelve wards in Idemili North at the party’s secretariat at Nkpor, Ibezi stressed the need for members, stakeholders and leaders of the party at the wards and local government levels to unite and strengthen the party structures at their various council areas and wards ahead of the governorship election.
