Prince Ifeanyi Onyeije responds with more details to an earlier article on zoning of the governorship by the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State
The piece authored by one Ugo Aliogo at Page 19 of THISDAY of Tuesday, April 27, 2021 made an interesting read.
The author tried to X-ray the last House of Representatives bye election for the Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency won by the PDP candidate, Chimaobi Ebisike.
However, a closer look at the piece and its real intent reveals a well oiled political plot aimed at strengthening the argument for power shift fo Abia North in general, and to the Isuikwuato area in particular, in 2023.
There are fears in Abia State that the Peoples Democratic Party may suffer the fate of the All Progressives Congress in 2023 if it jettisons its Charter of Equity, Ugo Aliogo writes
You learn more from defeat than victory. This famous Japanese proverb treasured by Korean marketing wizkids should make lots of sense to the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State after their thumping triumph in the recent Aba Federal Constituency by-election. There is the temptation to be swept away by the scintillating breeze of Chimaobi Ebisike’s emphatic 10,322 votes over Mascot Uzor Kalu’s 3,674.
While the All Progressives Congress (APC) is licking its wounds from the crushing Aba defeat, PDP has hard lessons to learn from the victory. Hubris, the ultimate destroyer of the Warrior who ignores the source of his strength, awaits PDP unless it avoids pushing the self-destruct button in the manner APC did.
2023: Zoning has come to stay in Abia – PDP chieftain
“Power rotation has become sacrosanct and must be respected by all political parties and aspirants.”
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
Abia State, Okechukwu Apugo, has said that no section of the state would be allowed to scuttle existing zoning arrangement for 2023 governorship election in the state.
Mr Apugo, in a statement in Umuahia, on Sunday, said power shift among the three senatorial districts had come to stay in the state.
He bared his mind against the backdrop of comments in some political circles that the next governor of the state would not be determined by zoning.
Ex-Army chief Azubuike Ihejirika joins APC
February 17, 2021
Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd), yesterday formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ihejirika, who was the Chief of Army Staff between 2010 and 2014 under former President Goodluck Jonathan, made his declaration to join the APC at Isuikwuato country home in Abia-North senatorial district.
His joining the party has heightened the speculation that he might be running for the governorship seat in the state in 2023 as it is expected that power would be moving to the Abia North in line with Abia Charter of Equity.
Ihejirika registered at Ezere ward 2 under the supervision of the APC ward Chairman, Mr. Iheanyi Chukwu in the presence of stalwarts of the party which include: Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; State Secretary of the party, Mr. Perfect Okorie; Deputy State Women leader of the party, Lady Franca Osuwa; Chairman, Abia APC Registration panel, Ambassador Bala Mohammed Mairiga
