One of the imperatives of democracy is that the citizens must always be able to engage their representatives in government, asking them questions and holding them to account at all times. In fact, leadership should report to its true employers, the people. Where this is the case, leadership is beholden to the people, knowing fully well that it can be ‘fired’ by its employers.
Unfortunately, the scenario painted above is hardly the case in many African countries. What we find here is that in many cases, leadership turns itself into sit tight despots, threatening, insulting and bullying anyone who dares to ask questions and wants to hold it to any form of accountability. NARD laments accumulated salaries, says FG fails to fulfil promise
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will on Friday proceed to London for “a scheduled medical follow-up.”
His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this on Thursday in a statement titled, ‘President Buhari off to London Friday for medical follow-up.’
The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari will proceed to London, the United Kingdom on Friday, June 25, 2021, for a scheduled medical follow-up.
“He is due back in the country during the second week of July, 2021.”

For Mrs. Florence Ngozi Eluwa, pains have become second nature. The 57 year old mother of two doesn’t even know if and when she would be free from the pains ravaging her body. She has been enduring it for over a year now.
Mrs. Eluwa found herself in this pathetic condition due to kidney problem with complications which requires that she must undergo a kidney transplant procedure to stay alive. But the financial cost is well beyond her family as almost every money that comes in goes into payment for drugs and medical bills.
“We need help from public spirited Nigerians and organisations” pleaded Mr. Chibuike Benjamin Eluwa, the husband of the sick woman. “My wife has kidney problem and she needs a kidney transplant” to stay alive.
